Have a wonderful tour! FYI Norwich Arts Centre reply very kindly when you email them because you think you've lost your tickets - and it turns out that you never actually bought them, just thought about it while scrolling one morning. Obviously this happened 'to a friend.'
Lord, earphones are always at the very bottom of my bag, so elusive.
Still haven’t read Wolf Hall. Thanks for the nudge.
One of my daughters was first of our family to see you on tour up London and was v impressed by your tending to a poorly audience member. Or was that part of the show? I guess you have to be prepared for anything.
Yes enjoyed yr London show (we were relieved that the guy who fell through a door *to the sound of clanging metal bar* was ok) I thought the ‘jokes you nearly scrapped’ were all gold follow your heart
I find this very reassuring, I think it’s because I’ve started a new job (well technically final year of a 3 year psychology training programme but same thing) and many of these things are happening to me (lack of sleep, weird dreams, thinking I’ve left stuff everywhere) but the reason for this comment apart from to say I hope the rest of the tour goes well is that because of the new job, I find I can’t do anything else new so I need something reassuring and hilarious and so I have been listening to SO many old episodes of Nobody Panic whilst on the long drives across the Highlands. So thank you, thank you for these. Hope to see you on tour ❤️
Just wanted to say thank you for adding an extra date in Reading, cos I was late to the party and both the Reading and the Maidenhead shows were sold out, and hence I was sad, but now I don't have to be sad anymore. I just have to remember in March that I have tickets...
Glad your tour is going well, Stevie, and that you’re sticking to your owl rule. Not much to add except everything I hear about Nish makes him sound like just an all around lovely guy. Tell him I said Hi! (I’m sure it’s a perfectly normal thing for random people on the street to say hi to him so why not via a random person on your Substack?)
Fun fact: Wolf Hall is 狼廳 (Láng tīng) in Mandarin, which I know because I asked if my wife knows the novel or not. She said it’s “about an English emperor … or something?” which is a lot more than I know about it, though I have heard of it. I think I had it confused with Toad of Toad Hall. 🤔
Loved the little rollercoaster this took me on 🙏 Tip for your Cambridge show: there is a fab poke bowl place called Poke Stop on Hills Rd and they are just so so lovely and friendly in there and it’s on Deliveroo. They even have a loyalty card situation and it is my weakness.
I don't know how long you'll be in Newcastle the day after your gig (as sadly it's closed on a Tuesday), but if you're around for lunch the rice bowls from Veganatomy get a double thumbs up.
I neeed you to know that M&S do a delicious own version of choc coated cherries (and they appear to be vegan on a quick check)- my mum & I much prefer them and I think you get more cherry for your…pennies? Rhyming? Idk. But they’re good if you’re not m&s adverse
I've just come to say thank you for making me feel like I'm not the only person to have nightmares about my tortoise, who I love a weird amount because she is an adorable delight. I hope you get home to find zero plants growing out of Dr. Alison Parker.
Also good luck with the rest of the tour, which makes me sad I'm stuck in America and so cannot go see.
Don't because I annihilated a bag of those cherries last time I had the head sads and they were INCRED but gave my insides the sads instead. Would do it again.
Loved listening and reading as always 💜 Glad it’s going well! I’m coming in December to somewhere, yay. I’ve been ill this weekend so it’s lucky I didn’t book Bristol! Been recommending you to all sorts of people when they ask who my favourite comedians are :D
Also there’s a missing ) although maybe you were being purposely enigmatic and open ended hehe sorry I can’t cope with that
Excellent! Sounds like it's going well, and Deliveroo every night means you are part of the bourgeois now!
As for not drinking your water in the shower, no, do it. Drink your bottle of water in the shower. It is liberating. Hell, have a beer in a shower. A shower beer as it were. You are royalty of the shower now, Queen Steven.
Hope you don't poo yourself on a rail replacement bus (or in fact, poo yourself in general), lose anything else and the resultant panic that ensues, and that you're seeing parts of the country you don't expect to see, despite I'm sure most of that time being spent inside hotel rooms!
Obviously the man married his lion NFT and wants people to know he has no bigotries against artificial intelligence spouses.
That Almond matcha sounds great actually. Enough for me to pass on my preferred choice of white chocolate and whatever random fruit or floral is available to give it a little kick. I feel like my drink order makes me a bigger prick than you, which honors my people's (by which I mean men's) cultural ritual of comparing prick sizes as a status gesture.
Hope to catch one of your shows someday! Either in the U.S. (which means things here have improved) or in the U.K. (which probably means they very much haven't).
I started my master's in oral traditional folk storytelling just as a fantastic performer named Kat was dropping out with the realization that there was very little marketable value in having that degree. I was stubborn and American enough to get it anyway but the point of this is that Kat was apparently a theatre usher with Mitchell and Webb many years ago, which impressed me greatly. This continues the grand stage tradition of everyone being within two name dropping degrees of one another, proof of which being that by staying and finishing the degree, I became friends with a high school classmate of Taylor Swift, who also dropped out of that university for a different one. I persist where tangentially connected people know better.
I’ve just looked it up. Need to look further into this as it sounds like I’d enjoy it. My partner would too but not with raw fish. She’s pescatarian but fussy. I do all our cooking so always on the lookout for new ideas. Fun when you’re a total carnivore and the woman you love isn’t. 🤣🤣x

Oh no!!! Message me if you still want to come I can def get you a couple of tickets x
"every single night I deliverooed myself a poke bowl. By the end it had become a sort of joke"
So... a joke bowl?
Oh yes very good

Oh god yeah poor guy! He was ok in the end thankfully ❤️

Your wife is bang on to be honest! And yes nish is the loveliest loveliest man xx

I have put it in my calendar, that's how seriously I'm taking this recommendation. Thank you!!!

Just checked out this “the news” and it looks like there’s been loads of series already. Do you have to watch it from the beginning to appreciate it?
you know what I think the earlier series are better, it’s gone too surreal now I reckon
Typical - they get some success then just keep making them for the money even though the magic is no longer there!

Glad you found your headphones!
What’s a poke bowl? 😳
only ever eaten in Wagamama’s once and that was 14 years ago. When I found out what an Edamame bean was. Ish, I still
Don’t really know.
I Could google it I guess.
It’s originally a Hawaiian thing but the bastardised UK version is sort of a build your own rice bowl - v v v nice
