Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference Extra Smooth houmous will obviously not be for you as it’s so smooth it skids off the tongue. It’s also £150k but I get it when it’s on Nectar price offer and I love it.
I also watched my greek housemate make her own once which involved rehydrating dried chickpeas for hours and catching their little skins with a spoon as they floated off. When I asked why she didn't use canned chickpeas she nearly punched me.
Very interesting 😂 I have eaten 5 tubs of Morrisons Houmous this week (as I’ve recently started working there 😬) and I thought the reduced fat one was great but the regular one did have an odd thing going on 😂
I can't eat garlic so shop bought is usually out for me! Happy to make my own though, sans garlic but with extra lemon and paprika usually. Still very much enjoyed this analysis though.
Oh my gosh. Thank you. For content that makes me smile and for talking of hummus of which I eat almost daily. I’m in America so we are swimming in hummus over here. Aldi will do but it doesn’t sing. Oddly Target classic hummus is really yummy. I like mine smooth with no grit, hummus that is, not people. And the more pine nuts the better. There use to be yellow lentil one that I couldn’t believe was so good. Little spicy, big flavor, then they changed the formula and it tasted weird, or evil as you say. I’m sure it was. Anyway loved the piece and yes I read it all, because…hummus.😋
"I spoon houmous into my mouth like thick soup" - as a vegan this is a key ingredient of my meals
TOTALLY agree with Ramona's first-place spot. Another huge favourite of mine: the Waitrose Smoky one. But I love smoky everything. I'd probably eat the spoon itself if they found a way to make the metal smoky.
I think red pepper houmous is great & smokey houmous is fun too. We usually get ASDA, LIDL or ALDI (the latter two are very cheap so you can pile on more). And Iceland's is surprisingly nice (but their sweet chilli one is far too sweet). We had some Tesco houmous last week & it was very insipid.
Have you ever used houmous as a layer in the middle of a nut roast? It cooks up as a fluffy but firm section. And what are your views on houmous as a pizza topping? The ASDA OMG Chargrilled Veg one has houmous instead of cheese & is very tasty with plenty of toppings & a good price, though we sometimes add extra bits like sliced Fry's hotdog sausages or grated vegan cheese.

Completely agree your top 3. Sainsburys organic was a huge revelation - so much better than their classic.
Would also recommend the Moorish smoked humous which is really really yummy
MOORISH SMOKED HOUMOUS. I FORGOT ABOUT THAT ONE.
I am allergic to houmous 😞 I do not even know what it tastes like
Zoe no. This is the most upsetting thing I’ve ever read. I need to take a moment.
One day I plan to try some just outside A&E but only the best kind, so this list is really helpful for that thank you
Poor you!

Look I’ll try anything because if it’s smooth but the taste is less flat that sabra I’ll love it!!
I think sabra houmous is the devil's work and I won't hear it any other way

(The end result did taste amazing though)
I bet that was incredible. I should grow my own chickpeas maybe
Hahahahahahahahjaaj

Ooh didn’t go near reduced fat cos presumed it’d be crap so I’ll investigate further!!!

Ooooh paprika in houmous bangs

Ok next time I’m over there I’ll swing by target ❤️
I like to buy a cheap one and merge it with peri sauce
I do make my own, it seems easy enough and I add marmite 😊
Genuinely would love to know the recipe!
But what about San Amvrosia Houmous Dip, the super-expensive fancy one? I need to know your thoughts ASAP.
Haven’t tried!!! Will get some and update asap

I HAVE NOT SEEN THE WAITROSE SMOKY ONE!!! Moved away from a Waitrose. Simply have to make a pilgrimage
Ramonas is definitely awesome. And I always go for the jalapeno version.
Ooooooo thank you! I will be sharing this VIPoJ (very important piece of journalism) with lots of people.
Also glad to see Sabra didn't make the top spot - too many people rave about it and it's on the BDS list. 😊
