Very much enjoyed this, thanks Stevie! Also enjoyed the 'god speed' at the end, felt quite 'Wolf Hall' and I immediately lit a candle and carefully removed my beanie from the back to the front like what he does in 'Wolf Hall'.

Sorry about "removed my beanie", I didn't enjoy that phrase either.

This is awkward but...I know Chris and he's really not happy about his email address being shared 😬

As someone who knows you only through your writing, Stevie, I get the impression that meeting Redd Pepper was formative. Did Redd Pepper inspire you to... go veggan? : )

I used to work for a brand that had a penguin as their mascot and being in the studio with this lovely, professional women who was having to make penguin sounds over and over in different ways is one the most surreal days at work I've ever had.

Found this really interesting. I would love to try my hand at voice overs but would my westcountry accent limit my opportunity? Other than to voice westcountry based produce (cider, pasties etc etc). Ooo arrr.

regional accents are a good thing! I get asked to ā€œturn up the northernā€ just as much as I get asked to do a bland RP southern voice!

As the son of a retired actor who was the wistful voice of the Glasgow Herald for some of the nought ones this was a delight - also I love a poke bowl from Akiko in Bothwell St.

Ha loved this! I now have a tip I can take away (the towel one) when I record the voiceovers (badly) for my Substack for my small readership! The last voiceover (using AirPods and you’ll probably think I’m totally mad for, you know, not getting real equipment but this is a side thing to my real job šŸ¤£šŸ™ˆ) sounded as if I was drunk and had a lisp (neither was true) but the thing you said about Ss and Ps may be the answer. 🤪 Everything you write about is funny so can’t wait for the next thing. šŸ«¶šŸ» And I may or may not have gotten lost in your video sketch comedy one day. šŸ¤”

oh not at all!! I only have the fancy home mic because of the adverts, I would never get one otherwise. Phone recordings on that voice memo app are perfectly good quality for most things!! Don’t suffocate under the towel pls xx

I’ll try it out and see if it is worth it. šŸ¤£šŸ˜… I’d love if you could share the advert reels. I find all this stuff very fascinating. ā˜ŗļø

Loved this! I do voiceovers for my influencer work but I’d love to know how to make it more of a thing that I offer. Could you share some tips?

I wish I knew more but my agent does so much of the admin!! If you want a VO agent then getting a little reel together (just a few clips!) and sending it out to agents is a good start cos they can give feedback!

Ting Thai does a banging takeaway, just don't go and sit in to have it because they 🤌still serve it in the same takeaway containers🤌 WHUTTT but Suissi in Partick has some great dishes and cocktails that are worth leaving the warm accommodation for 😊

weren't you in an advert for funny-named paint a while ago? Was it as much fun as it looked, and what was your favourite funny-named paint name?

very amusingly it was actually an advert for a phone company but I also thought it was for paint - even while I was filming it. I’m a fan of snowman’s bone
